West London producer Zim Zima delivers a bassline to make other basslines weep gently into their cotton pillows with UK Bass monster Night Time. Zim Zima is a rising star of the UK grime scene who is fast becoming a go-to producer. He has recently worked with both DJ Slimzee and Hollowman Jendor and is currently producing for Jendor's Hypontik Rythmz Grime Collective. His productions are well loved by listeners of pirate and mainstream stations. His tracks have been played on Rinse FM, Dejavu FM, KANE FM and KISS 100 amongst many others. With Night Time, his first release on Punch Up, he steps outside the grime genre, tips his cap to UK Garage, doses up on bounce, and delivers a window rattler that will have you fear for your speakers. This has grit.
Zim Zima was inspired to become a producer by his father, an acclaimed Bhangra recording artist. Zima remembers being taken to the recording studio as a 9 year old and watching on as his father recorded an album. By his late-teens, ZimZima was making music in his own right and bringing his Rap, Hip-Hop, Bhangra, Punjabi and UK Garage influences to bear on the emergent grime scene. Real life intervened but he returned to the music fold in 2020. He was soon to the fore once again, featuring on the Hardest Beats mixtape Vol. 2 and remixing a release for Sharky Major Feat. Manga. Zim Zima describes his sound as 'very gritty, some dark melodies and some to just bang in the clubs.' The clubs are open.
